There are three Professional Bodies and one Amateur Association registered with the council.
The Federal Association of Teachers Of Dance N.Z. Inc. (F.A.T.D.n.z) which is affilliated to the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (I.S.T.D.) conducts examinations and medal tests as well as competitions and the accreditation of dance teachers.

The Society of Australasian Teachers of Dance (N.Z.) Inc (S.A.T.D), which was established in 1949 by Mr Jack Guthrie, when he and his wife Valmai returned to live in New Zealand after attaining their Fellowship degrees with S.A.T.D Australia.
